The Filmmakers Hangout 48-Hour Film Challenge

June 6–8, 2025

1. Timeframe – The challenge begins at 6:00 PM on June 6 and ends at 6:00 PM on June 8. All films must be submitted by the deadline.

2. Theme & Requirements – Teams will receive a required theme, prop, and line of dialogue at the kickoff event. These must be included in the final film.

3. Film Length – Finished films must be between 3 to 7 minutes, including credits.

4. Originality – All footage must be shot within the 48-hour window. No stock footage or pre-recorded content is allowed.

5. Music & Copyright – Teams must have the rights to all music, sound effects, and media used in their film.

6. Registration Fee – A $25 registration fee per team is required to participate. Payment details will be provided upon registration.

7. Submission – Films must be submitted in MP4 format via the designated upload link by 6:00 PM on June 8.

8. Judging & Awards – Films will be judged on creativity, storytelling, use of required elements, and technical execution. Awards will be given for:

• Best Short

• Best Actor

• Best Script

• Best Director

• Best Cinematography

• Best Use of Dialogue

• Best Use of Prop

• Best Behind-the-Scenes Content

9. Team Size – No limit on team size, but all participants must be credited in the film.

10. Safety & Respect – All participants must follow local laws, ethical filmmaking practices, and respect locations and people involved.

11. Liability – By participating, teams agree that The Filmmakers Hangout and its organizers are not responsible for any injuries, property damage, copyright violations, or other legal issues that may arise during the challenge. Each team is fully responsible for their actions, equipment, and film content.

12. Have Fun! – This challenge is about creativity, collaboration, and enjoying the process.

Best Short – Recognizes the most outstanding short film based on storytelling, creativity, and execution.

Best Actor – Awarded for an outstanding performance in a leading or supporting role.
